Family Reserve, June 2005

Family Reserve

When I saw the ambulance
Screaming down Main Street
I didn't give it a thought
But it was my Uncle Eugene
He died on October the 2nd, 1981

And my Uncle Wilbert
They all called him Skinner
And they said for his younger ways
He'd get drunk in the morning
And show me the rolls of fifties and hundreds
He kept in the glove box of his old gray Impala

And we're all gonna be here forever
So Mama, don't you make such a stir
Just put down that camera
And come on and join up
The last of the Family Reserve

And my second cousin
His name was Calloway
He died when he'd barely turned two
And it was peanut butter
And jelly that did it
The help, she didn't know what to do
She just stood there and she watched him turn blue

And my friend Brian Temple
He thought he could make it
So from the third story he jumped
And he missed the swimming pool
Only by inches
And everyone said he was drunk

Now there was great Uncle Julius
And Aunt Annie Mueller
And Mary and Granddaddy Paul
And there was Hanna and Ella
And Alvin and Alec
And he owned his own funeral hall

And there are more I remember
And more I could mention
Than words I could write in a song
But I feel them watching
And I see them laughing
And I hear them singing along

"We're all gonna be here forever
So Mama, don't you make such a stir
Just put down that camera
And come on and join up
The Last of the Family Reserve"

Sir Chew-a-lot

Caroline has been calling the pooch "Max-os" as of late, and it cracks us up. It fits him. He's been a stinker lately, hope he settles down soon. Otherwise, he's going to go live on a farm!

Tornado warning is in effect

Quick, run for the basement! Oh...wait...we...don't...have...one.

Funnel clouds were spotted, (oh, I just love to hear those sirens) but I never saw one. There's still time I suppose.

What Not to Wear, Baby Edition

January, 2003
In terms of safety, this is definitely "what not to wear." The big puffy snow suit is unsafe while being used in a carseat, but I honestly didn't know that until a short time later. Here's the info: www.carseat.org/Technical/tech_update.htm
The harness is all wrong too, but she sure looks warm and happy.

Getting ready for RCIA

RCIA classes are to begin sometime this week or next, and I'm pretty excited! This is the church's symbol that is used on their bulletins, etc. I may even become a "donut lady" and hang out with the 70+ year old ladies dishing out donuts, coffee and milk for the kiddos during the fellowship time. Had a great time chatting with them last Sunday, which is no surprise.

Where has Sharon been?

Ok, so I'm not including airplane layovers or simple "drive throughs", just states that I've actually spent time in. Pretty skimpy I think.

Not at all surprised by this result:

How Old is Your Inner Child?

My inner child is ten years old!

The adult world is pretty irrelevant to me. Whether I'm off on my bicycle (or pony) exploring, lost in a good book, or giggling with my best friend, I live in a world apart, one full of adventure and wonder and other stuff adults don't understand.
